After watching season 4 of Stranger Things, I decided to give my interpretation of the aftermath of the possible future ending a shot and created this project. In my idea, the whole plot was one big DnD session, so we're inside Mike's basement - the guys have just finished their game and we find chips crumbs between the sofa cushions, comic books scattered all over the place and Els little hideout recreated. It was all just fun and games... or was it?
I spent roughly four months on the project. Everything was created from scratch (except some little assets that I borrowed from our Beyond project). The scene is powered by Unreal 5.1, which gave me much better lighting for my translucent cloth meshes. I used hardware raytracing for Lumen GI and reflections. Everything is realtime. The substance tools were used for texturing and baking, Marvelous Designer for cloth sim, ZBrush for sculpting and Photoshop/Blender for generation/editing/texture touchups.
Tim Nickel did the music for this - go check it out in the video!
